Can you share one case that has had a profound impact on you?

When I was a young lawyer, I worked on a case where a few people were killed in a house fire. It was so emotionally upsetting for me. It left such an impact on on my heart, that I’ve taken a little bit of that feeling from that case on every single case that I’ve ever worked on since. I’m keenly aware that some human being involved here had something before and it was taken away from them because of the accident. Now in that case obviously what was taken away could never be replaced, but in every accident, something has been taken away from the person. And our entire job is to just try to make them whole, just try to get that piece back as best we can.
