Valentine’s Day did not disappoint this year. My little family got to celebrate each other, and we came home with a big new couch—major win.

To spread a little love beyond our home, our firm jumped into the Special Olympics of Missouri’s Polar Plunge. Well, some people jumped. I, on the other hand, acknowledged my limits and stopped at waist-deep. No regrets. Turns out, that may have been my best decision of the day because, that night, my daughter surprised us with one last Valentine’s gift: Influenza A.

My kid—who usually operates at an 11/10 energy level—has been reduced to a very tired, very snuggly couch potato. And while I love the extra snuggles, flipping into full-on Mom Mode in the middle of Q1 planning is… not my strong suit. Emails are piling up. Meetings are being rescheduled.

It should be easy to remember why your priorities are your priorities, but shifting gears can be tough. Still, this is yet another reminder to give yourself some grace. Things will get back on track eventually.

Until then, drink some water, rest up, and start another episode of Bluey.
