Cialis Lawyers: Side Effects & Injury
If you have taken Cialis and suffer from serious side effects you may be entitled to compensation.
Cialis is a prescription medicine taken by mouth for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Since Cialis (tadalafil) was approved by the FDA on November 21, 2003 about 5 million men have used Cialis. While Cialis controls over 20% of the market for erectile dysfunction drugs, there are growing concerns about the prescription's safety.
Federal health officials are currently investigating reports of blindness in men taking Cialis. This type of blindness is called NAION, or non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. It can occur in men who are diabetic or have heart disease, the same conditions that can cause impotence and thus lead to Cialis use.
The most common side effects with Cialis are:
- headache
- indigestion
- back pain
- muscle aches
- flushing
- stuffy or runny nose
- an erection that won’t go away (priapism)
- vision changes, such as seeing a blue tinge to objects or having difficulty telling the difference between the colors blue and green
Please consult your physician before discontinuing any medication.
Improperly designed, manufactured, marketed or labeled drugs can cause serious injuries or death. When that happens, lawsuits are made against the manufacturer, and anyone else associated with the making or distributing of the drug. These cases are known as pharmaceutical products liability cases.
We believe that drug companies who place profit above people must be held accountable for their negligence and the damage they cause to innocent victim’s lives.
If you or someone you love is taking Cialis and have experienced any of the serious side effects associated with Cialis, we urge you to contact your physician for medical advice. Our next recommendation is to consult with a qualified attorney who has expertise in personal injury and product liability claims.

What is Cialis used for?
Cialis is a prescription medicine taken by mouth for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. ED is a condition where the penis does not harden and expand when a man is sexually excited, or when he cannot keep an erection. A man who has trouble getting or keeping an erection should see his doctor for help if the condition bothers him. Cialis may help a man with ED get and keep an erection when he is sexually excited.
Cialis does not:
- cure ED
- increase a man’s sexual desire
- protect a man or his partner from sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.
- serve as a male form of birth control.
Cialis is only for men with ED. Cialis is not for women or children. Cialis must be used only under a doctor’s care.
Who should not take Cialis?
Do not take Cialis if you:
- take any medicines called “nitrates”
- use recreational drugs called "poppers like amyl nitrate and butyl nitrate
- take medicines called “alpha blockers”, other than Flomax 0.4 mg daily
- have been told by your healthcare provider to not have sexual activity because of health problems
- are allergic to Cialis or any of its ingredients
How is Cialis different from the currently approved products for erectile dysfunction (ED)?
Cialis is different from other currently approved products for ED in that it stays in the body longer. However, there were no studies that directly compared the clinical efficacy and safety of Cialis to other products.
What important information should you know about Cialis?
- CIALIS can cause your blood pressure to drop suddenly to an unsafe level if it is taken with any nitrate medication or with any alpha-blocker medication (alpha blockers are medicines used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia and high blood pressure) other than FLOMAX (tamsulosin) 0.4 mg daily. You could get dizzy, faint or have a heart attack or stroke.
- Tell your healthcare provider that you take Cialis. If you need emergency medical care for a heart problem, it will be important for your health care provider to know when you last took Cialis.
- After taking a single tablet, some of the active ingredient of Cialis remains in your body for more than 2 days. The active ingredient can remain longer if you have problems with your kidneys or liver, or you are taking certain other medications.
How can I report a serious side effect with Cialis to FDA?
FDA encourages anyone aware of a serious side effect, including consumers or patients, to make a MedWatch report.
You can report an adverse event in two ways:
- Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch and click on "Submit Report" in the blue sidebar
- Call 1-800-FDA-1088
For more detailed information about Cialis, ask your health care provider.
